Is the glass half-empty, or half-full?
It depends on whether you are finishing the drink, or filling the glass. That aside, it can't be half-empty by definition. According to Merriam-Webster, a few of the many definitions of empty are containing nothing, null, and lacking reality, substance, meaning, or value. So, to say that something is half-empty doesn't sum up quite right. Half of nothing is still nothing.
Anyway, pondering over a half-empty or half-full glass doesn't make you any more intelligent, philosophical, or wiser. Just finish the damn drink already.
